We decided to take the whole crew out for a bite last night and hadn't been to Mulligan's in years so we figured we'd stop in. It was a very pleasant surprise to find it mostly as it was remembered, a very comfortable casual environment with a nice steady breeze blowing off the water to make it very comfortable outside.
Our server greeted us promptly and situated the tables to suit our party and he was off for the first round of drinks. The younger children noticed Blind Pass Park directly next to the restaurant and asked if they could go play and then off they went. They kept themselves busy until the food arrived so there was no need for the coloring kit or the "when is the food going to get here questions".
When ordering I asked, as is my custom, if the grouper was fresh and local. I was disappointed to hear that the grouper is frozen but was very happy to hear that from the server as opposed to discovering it after ordering. (as we have at many other restaurants) After giving the menu another once over I went with the blackened chicken caesar salad, my wife had the fish tacos, Katie the pasta penne, Jared went with the pork chop and the shorites had chicken fingers and toes with fries.
The variety on the menu offers much to be desired, it was only one page, but what we had was prepared well, was very reasonably priced and enjoyed by all. The staff was friendly courteous and fast and you're not going to find much better if you're looking for the feel of a friendly beach bar.
Mulligan's Sunset Grill offers air conditioned seating and a full bar indoors for those inclined to avoid the heat and features live entertainment and special events on Friday and Saturday evenings. The only disappointment, other than the limited menu, was that there weren't more people enjoying it. Go on over and give Mulligan's a try, tell em' TBC sent you. |
