I found this site through Capt. Epperson. I contacted him about a month ago and have booked a trip with him in march to chase the red fish. I do live here in alaska and of course i live to fish. The bulk of my fishing is on the Upper Kenai river. Non moterized my wife and I target trophy Rainbows and Dolly Vardon. We do a fair amount of damage to the red and silver salmon in the summer but love the fall bow and dolly fishing. So if any of youever come up north feel free to let me know.

Welcome aboard alaskachuck, it's good of you to say hello! You're definitely going to have a blast with Captain Epperson (AKA Redfish Brian) and you'll have to let us know how you do.
From what I've heard the fishing up there is some of the best in the world. Hopefully you'll find the time to post a couple of pics of what you're getting up there. I'd love to see a good pic of a Dolly Vardon. Quite honestly I'd never heard of the species before. Googled it and found this on an Alaska fishing blog:
"Dolly Vardon Char : Average 16 to 30 inches with trophies up to 15 lbs. Dolly Vardon Char can be caught throughout the season, with the later part of August and the whole month of September being the best months."
Just wanted to add that this is a trophy fishery. All fish are catch and release. We use rubber nets to protect the fish and pinch off all Barbs. We fish a single hard plastic bead 2" above the hook. This setup in the fall as the salmon are spawing is awesome. A nice 6wt 9' rod and the fight is on. As fall progresses and the fish start dying we go to egg sucking leaches and flesh fly patterens. Just an amazing place to fish.
