This meeting will be hosted by Dennis O'Hearn, President of Fishing Rights Alliance and representatives from the CCA. These individuals will advise you regarding the plans and preferred alternatives currently under discussion in the Gulf Council which makes recommendation to the Nationall Marine Fisheries Service. These plans WILL AFFECT THE QUANTITY OF GROUPER AND AMBERJACK YOU WILL BE ALLOWED TO CATCH IN THE FUTURE

The Gulf Council is holding a meeting the following week.at the Radisson Hotel, 12600 Roosevelt Blvd, St Petersburg, FL. Wednesday, January 30 from 1:30 till 5:30 is the period during this meeting for public input in this process.

If you plan on catching a grouper in the Gulf of Mexico in the next several years, you should seriously plan on attending the Rally at Tightlines and/or the Gulf Council meeting. How does a 6 month closed season sound, or a complete year where grouper fishing will be off limits in the Gulf? This is the kind of alternatives being considered by the group that will make the rules affecting your fishing.

Concerned anglers who should attend would include Offshore anglers, Tackle Shop Owners, Outdoor Writers, Charter boat captains, Boat dealers, Electronics dealers, marina operators, Legislators and any one else with a stake in the Gulf of Mexico offshore fishery.

If you can't make it to Tightlines on Thursday, a similar Rally is being held at Betts Fishing Center on Starkey Road in Largo on the following evening, Friday January 25
