I went out with Barfly today... we had to try out the new downriggers he got for Christmas. Before we used them we went over to the port with some frozen sardines and pinfish just to give it a try. Found some good looking bottom at a couple of spots but only brought up a couple of squirrel fish. Spent the next couple of hours trolling lures with the downriggers... neither of us had used them before so it was mostly just getting used to working them. We got some experience, they were a piece of cake to use, but no fish. I hadn't been over to the power plant before so we ran over there. Lots of fisherman... and no rods bending anywhere except a couple of catfish on a pontoon boat nearby. The manatees were way cool though, I can't wait to take the kids over there to watch them. Had lunch at the Bahia Beach Resort. It looks like a great place for a family weekend. Lots of activities for the kids and I know my wife would enjoy it. Overall, a beautiful day... found a couple of new spots, maybe a place for a weekend getaway... alas, none in the fishbox but a great time on the water! -----
