Me and two buddies went out yesterday and decided to put in at Fort Desoto. It was a bit windy, but we found some flats that were blocked off. We were using gold jigs and love lures to start with. I got a hard hit. After pulling it up, I was excited to see a fat 21 inch trout. My buddy using the love lures pulled three out that were 16 inches and two around 17.5 inches. We fished these flats for about an hour. As we were about to pull anchor, I nailed a 19 inch red.

We then decided to fish the old boat wreck out in front of the middle bridge to the skyway.. We had a few hits, but the only fish we got up to the boat was a 18 inch Grouper. Of course we through it back to see another day. We then headad out to the first bridge from st pete to the skyway. We anchored up in front of the middle pillings and were corned in. It was Sheephead time. I had gotten a bucket of oysters and some frozen fiddlers from mastrys. The tide was running pretty good. We got the poles in and two hours later we had 11 sheephead in the cooler. They were all around the 13 to 15 inch range, but we had two that were around 18-19 inches. This cold weather has really brought these fish around in big numbers. I prefer oysters, but the fiddlers were working too. I will also admit to the 10 or so we lost.

The higlight of the day was when my buddy pulled in the 13 inch Pinfish. This was by far the biggest Pin I had ever seen. We all thought it was a small sheepheadas he was pulling it in. We were all amazed. Anyway it was an awsome day out on the water, and it was time to have a fish fry.

I'm glad to hear that somebody's catching em' up... it sure wasn't me last weekend.

We tried that wreck, thanks for the tip, but came up empty... in fact came up empty everywhere else (Jacks spot off the point, Skyway reefs, Coffee Pot flats, etc.

Thanks for the great report, congrats on the good fishing and I'm gonna have to hitch a lift in that new ride. I'm looking forward to seeing how it works out for ya. Maybe you could post a couple of pics?
