We went out around 6:30 in Englewood to catch some grouper. The trip with a good friend chad who lives down there and two other buddies. The trip was going to be about 25- to 30 miles out. It was a bit rough heading out, but his 31 ft Sea Vee sliced through the waves.
We finally go out to our first spot in about 95 ft of water. We anchored up the poles went in. We had about 200 pins to last us the day for bait. Chad lives down there and he has some unbelievable spots to fish on. The bite started strong as we all brought in a couple gag grouper, but the first few were undersized. It picked up and about an hour later we had four keepers in the boat. The bite at this spot got weak. Chad decided to check out his next spot he said would be great. The weather and wind was ideal for off shore fishing. It was calm and it really began to warm up from a chilly start.
The fish continued to pile in our boat as the grouper were hungry for these pins. There was also some nice size to these Red and Gag grouper. After a couple hours at this other spot the bite had slowed down, so it was off to our last stop. When we got to this last stop the bite was strong and stayed stong for some time. We ended up with a ton of grouper and a few scamp grouper as well. The grouper bite had slowed, so we put out a chum block and decided to get some Mango snapper in the boat. Before we knew it we had some nice Mango's in the boat. They were mostly around 15- 17 inches, and they were fat. It was about 2 and we had more than enough fish, so we decided to head in. The trip was a success and a whole lot of fun. Check out the pictures in the album.
