Hello everyone,
My name is Chris, a fishing newbie compared to you guys.
I am a roof cleaner by trade, the owner of Apple Roof Cleaning in Brandon.
We have an older Hurricane 21 foot deck boat with a 150 Yammy on her, and an "antique" old 19 foot 1981 Hydra sports 19 footer with a Nissan 90 hp.'The Nissan is a SMOOTH motor, but has a blown lower unit.'Nissan's are GREAT motors, till they break, LOL
You will need LOTS of Prayer to find parts for them.

We live in Brandon, and are going out to the sky way tomorrow.
Our fish finder got stolen, but we really don't know what we are doing anyway, as far as fishing goes.
I hope to learn some fishing skills here.

We live in the Brandon Area.

So we put our boat in the Alafia River.

I want to learn where to go, and what to do to catch something besides catfish.

What info are you guys looking for? Right now there are tons of area around the bridge you dont even need a fish finder to put a bend in the rod. look for the dark areas around the south pier as a starting point you can catch mackeral, bonita, kingfish on top and snapper and small grouper on the bottom from there you can move to the dolphins(bridge bumpers) or rock piles where you will see hundreds of others doing the same thing. Somethings to take into consideration and expierment with use chum bags, cut baits and livies, long shank hooks for mackeral and bluefish, try different leaders sizes as fish can be leader shy this time of year, try flat lines on top and bottom rigs.

The key is guys gettin out there and trying these things out for yourself and figuring it all out, and enjoying your time with family and friends. you may get all the answers you want here but trying new things and being successful on your own is a good accomplishment you can pass on. So I gave you a few things to start on and build from there. And post back as to how you do. Good luck out there.
