...since I've posted a report of any kind. So here is a re-cap of the last 45 days or so (sorry if some pics are dupes of other reports):
Been fishing a lot of SKA tournaments since mid-March. As a matter of fact, everyone one on the west coast of Florida. Did pretty well down south (Marco, Naples & Ft. Myers) with a bonus sailfish in Marco.
Took some boys from Indiana kingfishing just off the beach in mid-April. We were supposed to be catching spanish, but these showed up instead. They ended up boating somewhere around 15 or so and losing twice that many. All the kings were caught on whitebait using Catalyst 40's and Stradic 4000's on 8-17 lb. rated flats rods. NO WIRE. Just 1/0 long shank "J" hooks. They ended up keeping one for the grill.
...and how about this one on a flats set up w/ no wire:
Of course, got out for some flats fishing too. Didn't get many pics.
And so now its tarpon time! Quite possibly my favorite time. Definitely my busiest!
Waiting for more tarpon pics from clients. Will post 'em up as I get them. Tarpon have been caught in various areas, but mostly at the Skyway on threadfins or whitebait. Went 3 of 4 today in a screaming wind. One of the 3 today weighed an estimated (by me) 175 pounds . Big fish!! Second biggest to ever come to my boat.
Nice report Tommy, good seeing you at the bridge a couple weeks ago. Thnaks for trying to keep those coasties from pulling my anchor line when it was rougher than snott out there. See you out there.
