| Had some repeat clients fly in from up north and they wanted to catch some snook. With a live well full of beautiful whitebait we left the dock in search of our prey.Well the first spot we stopped at produced some trout and a nice snook that came unbuttoned. Then a blacktip shark moved in and the bite died so I asked the lady if she wanted to catch the shark that was hanging around the boat and she said cool.So after we released the shark we made some moves until we found quite a few snook sunbathing out from the groves on the flats.Well they were being stubborn but with persistence, chumming and technique they were able to get 7 snook to the boat with a few misses here and there (quick hook sets) which can happen when you are sight casting to the snook and seeing the hit many people will set the hook to soon. When you can not see the hit there is a couple more seconds for the fish to get a good hold of your bait.So if you do get to sight cast for snook and you see the fish take your bait give it a moment to get that bait good before you come tight to the fish. All in all they caught some nice fish, experienced sight casting and had a great time. Here is a couple of pics from the trip.

Fished a corporate trip tues 6-17 out of Courtney CC an area I had not fished in awhile. Well we had 3 hrs and then they had to be back at the ramp and the current was going to be slack for two of those hrs so the thinking cap was on.Armed with 3-5" whitebait off we went.I new we did not have alot of time so I took them to a mangrove line that had some small feeder creeks that I figured would create some current sooner then other areas since it would have the funnel effect and that was the ticket. They ended up catching some snook and two jacks that went 8 & 10lbs. The bite at first was under the groves and then it turned off then I seen some chummers getting hit out of the groves over some deeper water so I put a small split shot on one of the guys lines and tell him to cast to the deep area and bam hes hooked up instantly to a nice snook but the gill plate got him.So I quickly put split shots on all the rods and the bite was back on.Small changes as the fish change can make a big difference. It is to bad they had to catch the buss because the current was just starting to move and in a short while the minor was going to kick in but they still had a good time and all caught fish. Here is Bob with the snook of the day at 28"

Location: Pinellas Point | Captain George, that's some tight work and thanks for the great report and pics. I can surely relate to the too quick hook set... but it's generally me. (smiley here) Wondered about "a nice snook that came unbuttoned" though. -----
