Well I wanted to go out to some different areas around Gandy so I gave Mike (Boomer) a call to see if he was game and of course he was.First thing I wanted to do was get on the white bait and sure enough it was home.Look for it to be in deeper water near channels, bridges and power plants. The bait was great from 3 - 5 inches and after a little while the well was blacked out with about 400 baits with 4 dozen shrimp to boot. Now with the very low tide in the morning it was time to find some deep dark bottom water surrounded by shallow flats to concentrate the fish.On my first stop it just was not producing so after about 20 min and scouting the area without even seeing a push or blowout it was time to move. The next spot was really looking good and I had that feeling the fish were gonna be home. As we came up to the area I started seeing mullet and then ladyfish and then the first snook(a decent one at that). So I slowed down even more and positioned the boat and eased the anchor in.The boat was sitting near the edge of a drop off.I give Mike first dibs on casting in and within a few minutes his bait is getting molested but not being taken(ladyfish) but as he reels in to check his bait, he had a Snook looker.(follow but no taker). That was ok cause now we know they are here.So I move the boat slightly for better position and Mike casts out a large white bait and after a few minutes he is latched on to a 30 + inch fish. The fight is on the drag is going, she comes up and rattles her gills at us and its just a beautiful sight. As the fight goes on he gets her closer to the boat after a few great displays she does the dirty to him and cuts him off with the gill plate. So Mike ups his leader to 30# for little more buffer. Then we get a few pick ups without the commitment.I hook up to a nice snook who also fought well. All the snook we caught fought really good and were not lethargic at all.As the tide comes in and onto the flat surrounding the area look for the fish to come out of the deep water and go onto the flat that is now warmer from the sun.We saw some fish on the flat and were able to get some of them. After we caught 7 snook the bite slowed so it was off to see about some trout(upcoming trip). After getting some trout it was getting late so we started to head back in but on the way we checked on the silver trout and whiting and there are plenty around gandy and the power plant channel. We messed around with them for awhile just catching one after another on 1/4oz red head Cotee jig and white grub tail we called it a day. Here are a couple of pics from the day and another pic of a buddy I took out that is sick and wanted to wet a line and on his last cast of the day got this nice 4lb sheepy.
