| Saturday morning I picked up David and his son Bennet to get them out on Tampa Bay so Dave could learn some more of the waters around Gandy (and pick up a few fish along the way) since he only gets down here about 4 times a year. I took him to an area that has had some decent snook but they had lock jaw so we had to make the move and it was a good one.Shortly after the chummers were released the water had a few irruptions and I knew they would be hooked up soon. After a few misses and getting used to the circle hooks the snook started coming to the boat. Then Bennet latches onto a nice one and she comes up with a great gill rattling head shake and the hook stays in.The young Bennett is fighting the fish well. now we get a good look at her and she will keep but she is not done and the drag lets loose again but Bennet stays calm. Then just as she is getting closer to the boat she does a 180 lunge and the hook pops.Bennett was bummed and so was I but I told him to hold his head up that he did a good job and that he did nothing wrong and there were more snook out there just waiting for him to catch them and that is what he did.Bennet also reeled in a nice keeper trout that they took home to meet the family. They ended up catching 12 snook, trout and some ladies for the fun of it.Dad didn't do pics but here is Bennet.Scaled sardines free lined on 30lb leader and 10lb Spiderwire.
