Paul and his son Dave were hyped up to go snook fishing especially since this trip was a long time in the making for them and had gotten postponed a week on top of it.They really did not think you could catch much snook during the day since Dave was only used to catching them at night and Paul had never caught one, boy were they in for a surprise.I picked them up from the dock and really wanted to put them on some snook since I have known Paul for a long time and this was the first charter inshore

with me.I take them to the first spot where some large but finicky snook have been hanging out.We got one of them to take a bait but it spit it out before they could get the hookup and that bite was not happening after that.So we moved to shallower water over some grass flats that have been holding cooperative snook. It wasn't to long before we had a few hook ups and misses, but after they got the hang of the circle hook it was game on!!!! Dave throws out a nice 4" whitebait and then it happens bam it gets nailed (I start coaching) let him take it, let him take it follow and now slow pull back and start reeling. First snook to the boat and the second. Then Paul wants me to show him how to do it but right before I can he gets hammered and controls the hook set and does it perfectly. After that they had the feel for it and misses were far and few.The key is to keep frisky baits at the end of your line it will make a difference sometimes on whether you get the hit or not.Snook are in the springtime mode.We were using a typical set up 7' 6" rods with 10 lb braid and 30 lb Fluoro leader. Paul during the fishing was getting so ecstatic about the amount of fish they were catching he was calling people that said they couldn't go just to let them here what they were missing out on.It was great cause it brought out the inner youngster that we all have and it was great to see.It was getting a little later then Paul had planned on (previous plans that evening) but being a fisherman he pushed the envelope. They were both having a great time and decided on one more snook to make it 25 for the day and then they would have to get out of there and call it a day. They got their last snook and we left them biting for another day.

Here are some pics
