I had a tough trip on Wed last week the bite was slow for me in the area I was fishing but we kept beating the bushes and managed to get 4 Snook, 3 Reds and a Trout for a slam for Harry who was fishing with his Dad Harvey. There were a couple of fish that they couldn't turn and the groves won. One of the fish was a nice size snook and the other may have been a healthy red.
They had a great time but that was a slow bite compared to what I have been doing so I knew it was time to change areas because I wasn't satisfied with the results.According to what has happened the last couple of years I knew the fish should be in one of two areas, so Fridays trip was going to be at a different location. Here is Harvey with one of the reds.

Fridays trip was with Jim and his son Bob. Whitebait has been loaded on most of the flats in 2-5 feet of water. Get in an area look for flips or sparks troll in and anchor up.Chum until you get the bait thick behind the boat before you throw the first time.
Patience in letting the chum do its job pays off.
Well I picked up Jim and Bob and off we went to the new area. We get there and the grass looks great, full and full of bait.Things looked right already. So I slow troll in and look for movement and I see something near the groves so I ease the anchor in and position the boat. We go over some techniques and we are ready to fish.Bob who lives hear tells me that he has only caught one snook his whole life and his Dad has yet to catch one. So I said we are gonna change that today.Dad said this was for Bob and he wanted Bob to have a great time.Well we get both lines in the water and within 15 minutes Jim has one coming to the boat. After that it was steady action for most of the trip after a few misses they caught on fast.well Dad had the hot hand with four snook to the boat so Bob was due.Once Bob started catching they were both just enjoying a great day of fishing, A Father and his Son.It stayed over cast for 4 of the 5 hours that we fished with storms around us but not near.
This made it pleasant most of the day not being to hot. They caught about the same amount of fish between them with a nice total of 24 Snook, 1 Red and a Snapper.Jim kept telling me to catch one since they had so much fun so I caught the odd thing on whitebait, a mullet. Last year in this same area a client of mine also caught one on whitebait. I guess they are turning into fish lovers. It was a great trip that a pattern repeated and paid off for me.
