| Ran a trip today out to a little known wreck in 150 ft. Seas were 2 ft. on the way offshore and 3-4 on the way home. But with all of the crap weather we have been having lately I considered this a real nice day out there. Water was pretty dirty all the way out and the vis. from the surface in 150 ft. was only about 20 ft. or so. The boys from Canada love catching Jacks and lots of them. During the course of the day we counted 51 Jacks ranging from 10-45 lbs. with many of the fish in the 30 lb. class. All fish were caught on either a 4oz. Spro buck tail or a Shimano Butterfly Jig. No live baits were needed. Wanting nothing to do with all of those things myself, I fished a lighter spinning combo with a knocker rig. 1/4 oz. lead with a 5/0 circle hook. Bait of choice was smaller sardine plugs around 2 in. Catch on this rig was 19 mangos in the 2-6 lb. range, along with some ARS and a few Margates. Sure was nice getting out. I hope the weather turns around soon.
