Well Friday was the last day the brothers Brad and Eric with their friend Jerry could fish and they wanted some bruiser fish so drum was the target for the afternoon.
In the morning we fished for snapper, snook and mackerel to have fun before we went after the drum.
Then the winds kicked up but we all decided it was worth it to go after the big boys to end their week right.
First cast gets hammered before i could even get the slack out of the line so I hand the rod off but it was to late we were broke off. The fourth cast out Brad gets the hit and feels the power of the fish and fights him for a few but the drum makes it to a piling and that's all she wrote but now he is prepared. Now the winds are high and going across the current and the lines are not getting into the strike zone so I decide to make a small move so I can anchor the boat to get us into better position.
I had to let a lot of scope out to hold position but put us right on the money and the game was on. Third cast out and we were hooked up and a monster of a fish comes boat side. We were getting hooked up within every 3-5 casts. These guys were having a blast and Jerry and his Dad are coming back to hire me later this year after he sent his Dad pics from the past 2 trips.
The monster caught fish of the day was 44lbs and none were smaller than 35lbs. We did hook into a monster that just took line out and there was no stopping him. I wonder how big that one was?
