Location: Pinellas Point | Hit the water around 7:30, and was flying solo so after a quick look around the flats (didn't see any and didn't want to chum) I headed out to the Skyway for bait. Man was it loaded (all threadfins though), anchored up and was pulling up four a pop on the sabiki until the well was full.
Decided to head to a spot off the beach in about 20' that's been incredibly productive in the summer... but not today. Put out the chum block and free lined a couple of threadfins on stinger rigs and dropped a sardine to the bottom. Not a single strike other than about a three foot shark that was landed and released unharmed and it hit one of the flat lines not the bottom rig. Stayed there until the chum block was done and then headed back to Jack's spot in the bay and used the same strategy. Ended up getting cut off a few times (yes, even on the stinger) but took three mackerel home the smallest of which was 16-18" and the others were 22-24". Just like last week the bite didn't pick up until the chum block was almost spent but didn't have another this time so I called it a day about a half an hour after the chum was gone.
What a beautiful day though, the water was calm, the clouds made it a lot more comfortable and got enough to make it worth while to fire up the smoker (them was some fat macks).
