Hi,

My name's Paz and I'm interested in finding things; and especially people on the internet. I'm also a keen fisherman and am looking for tips on how to land slightly bigger ones

Oh My God... The Paz! Dude, must've had dinner for a week on that beast.

For anyone else, Paz.... like Jocelyn is a search engine optimization professional and web designer that is a moderator on the same SEO forum as Joc. It just looks like he catches more fish (smiley here). If you have a business site that you're trying to get ranked, PM either as they are as good as it gets and I can assure you that you won't be disappointed.

Paz, thanks for swinging by... mostly just fish talk here, but it might be perfect for ya judging by the pic. What do you catch in Turkey these days?

Hi, well thanks for the compliments guys! Yes I'm a bit of an insomniac, which is good for night fishing I guess.

That's a Sea Bream I'm holding, caught by my brother in law locally. It's a warm water fish; one of the few breeds left in abundance in Antalya after years of over-fishing. Now they've banned foreign fishing; except for tourists with poles of course, set quotas for local fishermen and banned certain types of nets and fishing methods - including dynamite!

The market price of fish was really high though and there were still people trawling illegally, so local conservationists and fishing enthusiasts stripped cars, towed them out into the Mediterranean Sea and sank them. The car wrecks rip the nets apart and act as havens for marine wildlife. When I first saw it I thought; "What the hell...!" as you can imagine. Some of the cars they tow out to sea look in better condition than mine; but that's another story.

After 3 years the stocks are already recovering but are still not sustainable for commercial fishing, but the growth in "fishing tourism" ie chartered trips and voyages has more than made up for losses due restricitons on commercial fishing.

Also, these days local fishermen, like yourselves, act as unpaid policemen tipping off the authorities when they see pollution, dumping at sea, or evidence of illegal fishing.

So, I don't know what Tampa Bay is like, but it looks pretty beautiful and I would certainly take care of it by whatever means you have at your disposal!

Cheers,
Paz.
