I have been away from the boat a few weeks from it being in the shop and had a charter scheduled for Sunday morning so I was anxious to get the boat back Thursday afternoon.I started off Saturday in Terra Ciea Bay scouting some deeper flats in search of trout and redfish that are typically working the area this time of year. There is no need to start early this time of year due to the water temps in the high 50's low 60's.Fishing with gulp shrimp and swimming minnow the bite was strong around 10am with several trout and reds coming to the boat in different locations, A good sign for Sunday's upcoming trip.I was looking for areas with sheepshead concentrated along the holes and oyster bars and the reds would be in close proximatey.Sunday's trip was as equally good results but the added bonus of snook and large jack cravalle. One of my clients have not fished in the last three years so it was great to bend a rod for a few hours. This weekends low tides should bunch the fish in pot holes so get out on the water and stay warm.
Sounds like a great day, thanks for the report Mike. Terra Ciea is a quick skip for my across the bay and I've heard it's good... I just may have to check it out this weekend. Thanks again for the report. ----- Recent Blog Posts: Captains SEO - Page Titles & Anchor Text & The Sunshine Skyway Fishing Piers
Finsnscales thanks for the report. That's a nice tip about looking for sheepshead to find the redfish. I haven't heard that one before. TBC if you do go out this weekend give me a call. I would like to look at the new bottom machine in action.
Yea, you're right about the tip.... I hadn't heard that one before either. About the weekend; A buddy, Nick, is coming over to help install the Lowrance on Sat. Morning so I was thinking of running out for a bit when we're done. I think Sunday's off the table as Maribeth's graduation is Sunday night... I'm sure that there will be alot to do.
Maybe early and short on Sunday.... I'll check with the boss. Does either work for you?

Being without the ride as a captain had to be rough. I know for me being without the boat and then paying for repairs is tough.
I'm glad you're back in the saddle and tearing them up!
